Where we came in
Renishaw aims to “continue to be a worldwide leader in precision technology: an insatiable innovator, a trusted partner, an inspiring employer and a responsible business”. As part of achieving these interconnected goals, the company has a complex product development and communication strategy that uses a wide range of assets such as its website, software, apps and other materials. With 81 global locations and regional offices and 91% of its revenue coming from exports, localisation plays a vital role in the company’s global success.
Renishaw selected Albion Languages for localisation for the local market on the basis that we offered the optimal solution in terms of technical know-how, absolute commitment to quality and flexible, personable approach.
In assisting Renishaw, we were faced with a particularly complex challenge made up of three main elements:
- Firstly, the company operates in a very wide range of fields, from precision measurement and process control, 3D metal printing and prototyping to science and healthcare
- Secondly, Renishaw makes uses of all kinds of communication channels and assets and means to interact with its products, including apps, websites, software, amongst many others
- Thirdly, the company produces very cutting-edge products, often acting as technology pioneers
A customised approach and carefully selected team. Faced with these challenges, it was vital for us to create a project team for Renishaw that had a breadth of experience in the many different business sectors involved and in a full range of translation, localisation and transcreation projects. A wide range of different content handling and localisation tools were also made available to the team to optimally process the different types of content.
Innovation and creativity. We also made sure we allocated time and effort to properly research the various applications of Renishaw technology. This included on-site visits to Renishaw HQ and other sites to see and understand the technology in action. As a result, we could define and, in some cases, even create new terminology in the target language to reflect the cutting-edge nature of the concepts involved.
By developing a close understanding of the client’s approach to its multiple markets and products, we could create a project setup and ongoing development approach that were in line with the pace of Renishaw’s innovation strategy. With the right team, tools and continual research and learning, this could all be achieved in line with the most demanding quality expectations and strict turnaround times.
