Our route to ISO 17100:2015 – The first step in the world of ISO quality standards
Great news: Albion Languages is now certified for the ISO 17100:2015 standard!
The ISO 17100:2015 international standard was designed to be implemented by translation service providers. As stated in its definition, ‟ISO 17100:2015 provides the requirements for the core processes, resources, and other aspects necessary for the delivery of a quality translation service that meets applicable specifications” (https://www.iso.org/standard/59149.html).
Albion Languages has always believed in high quality services. From the outset, we have taken all the necessary steps to develop the company according to industry needs and standards, including state-of-the-art technologies, quality assurance and carefully selected, top-notch resources, both externally and internally. In collaborating with clients, we’ve also stood by our core principles of transparent pricing and open communication. As a result, we are proud to have established long-standing cooperation with both clients and vendors.
We also realised early on that industry requirements and our company goals are intertwined in many respects. In a market with such fierce competition, where you can often be defined in simple terms by the number of projects you deliver or how many words you translate per day, we can carve out a niche for ourselves in the industry with our focus on continuous effort and commitment to quality.
As a result, when we decided to apply for the ISO 17100:2015, we knew it was within our potential reach. We set up a team led by Senior Project Manager and Training Coordinator, Piroska Ténai, and Finance Manager, Péter Márton to prepare the company for the certification process. The team then drew up a gap analysis action plan, based on which we could address those shortcomings. We then compiled and organised the necessary training and tests for our colleagues and updated our workflow processes, TMS and Vendor database with the necessary information to fulfil the requirements of the standard.
In order to be certified, we subsequently went through a two-stage audit conducted by the ATC Certification Body (https://atc.org.uk/iso-certification-service/certification/), a highly professional team with vast experience and complete understanding of the translation industry.
We were genuinely overjoyed to hear that we had been found to merit the ISO 17100:2015 certification, and now proudly have our certificate on display. At Albion Languages, we are now embracing our core principle of devotion to quality translations more than ever. Equipped with what we have learnt during this process, we trust we will be able to make the company even more capable and ready for the new challenges that lie ahead.
